1. What kind of writing does your agency represent? Please refer to the agents page to learn what kind of books we represent. No, we do not represent writers who are primarily poets, although some of our clients are poets in addition to being novelists. 3. How do I submit a query? What information should I include? How do I write a query? Send us a letter detailing your work. If someone is interested in your idea, they will ask to see the manuscript (see question #8). For additional information on how to write a query letter, please consult Writer’s Market. 4. To whom should I address my query? You may address your query to Ellen Levine by mail or fax. 5. I submitted a query/proposal/manuscript on xx/xx/xx. When will the agent get back to me? Ellen responds to query letters within a week of receipt (only if you’ve included an SASE), and responds to proposals within two weeks. If your manuscript has been requested, expect a reply within 4-5 weeks unless special arrangements have been made. 6. What is your mailing address? Is this a good idea for a book? What is a good book idea to one agent is not necessarily a good idea to another agent. Send us a query letter and you’ll find out if your idea is a match for us. Remember, a good idea is only the beginning; it is very important that your proposal is fully developed, specific, and engagingly written. 9. Can I submit more than one page? a sample or proposal? Yes, your query can be longer than one page. A brief sample will suffice unless you are invited to submit more. Proposals may be submitted, but remember, they must be concise and well-written (see question 8). We cannot, however, take responsibility for unsolicited material.
